A fire that began with a vehicle spread to a residence and a neighboring apartment building Thursday afternoon on Plum Street in Marshall, Illinois.
The fire occurred at approximately 4pm on January 22, 2026. High winds contributed to the spread of the fire from a vehicle to a nearby house and then to the adjacent apartment building.

Fire crews from the Marshall Fire Department responded to the scene and were assisted through mutual aid including units from Martinsville Fire Protection District.

By approximately 6:30pm, firefighters were packing up hoses and equipment.
