Marshall, IL – The Friends of Lincoln Trail State Park (FOLTSP) will host their annual “Friend-Raiser” membership drive on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026. The event highlights the group’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the park through local volunteerism and fundraising.
The FOLTSP serves as a vital partner to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, funding projects that fall outside the state’s budget. Kayak launches, a basketball court located in Plainview Campground and a new Nature Center stocked with displays, books and activities are all thanks to efforts of the Friends Group.
The group is preparing to release a new wish-list with the 2027 calendar of events. Future goals include a disc golf course, cell signal booster for safety, and expansion of the park’s trail system.
In celebration of the group’s accomplishments and continuing efforts, two events are being held as part of the Friend-Raiser Membership Drive. Starting at 10:00a.m., a cornhole tournament will be held at Plainview Campground. The entry fee for the tournament is $20 per team. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place teams.
Later that afternoon at 2:00p.m., kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards are all invited to play Paddle Poker. Paddlers will launch from the south boat ramp and paddle to 5 dealers located around the lake. The winning hand will receive a $20 gift card to the Friends of Lincoln Trail State Park Pop-Up Shop. Entry fee for this event is $10 per vessel and there will be an optional $5 wild card purchase available.
Membership in the organization is open to the public, with family memberships starting at $25 annually. These funds directly support park improvements and maintenance.
