The Clark County Post welcomes letters from readers. We value open dialogue and a wide range of perspectives within our community. To ensure fairness, accuracy, and civility, all submissions are subject to the following guidelines:
Submission Requirements
- Word Limit: Letters must not exceed 1,000 words and may be edited for clarity, brevity, accuracy, grammar, and length.
- Identification: Submissions must include the writer’s first and last name, city or town of residence, and a valid phone number or email address for verification. (Contact information will not be published.)
- Verification: The Post may contact writers to confirm authorship before publication.
Content Standards
- Civility: Letters must maintain a respectful tone. Personal attacks, profanity, or hate speech will not be published.
- Accuracy: Writers are responsible for factual accuracy. The Post may fact-check and reject letters containing demonstrably false or misleading information.
- No Libel or Defamation: The Post will not publish slanderous, libelous, or knowingly false statements.
- Non-Commercial: Letters intended to promote a business, product, or service will not be accepted as letters to the editor.
- No Candidate Campaigning: The Post will not publish letters that endorse or oppose specific candidates for elected office, or that contain ad hominem or campaign-style attacks. Discussion of ballot measures and public issues is welcome when presented respectfully and factually.
Editorial Rights
- The Post reserves the right to edit, reject, or delay publication of any letter at the discretion of the editor.
- Submission of a letter does not guarantee publication.
- Letters become the property of The Clark County Post and may be published in print, online, or both.
Frequency
To ensure equal opportunity for all voices, only one letter per author may be published within a 30-day period.
